Shopify Search Bar: Best Practices!

Are you making it as simple as humanly possible for customers to find what they want in your online store??

Because I’ve been seeing a lot of stores lately that don’t even have a search bar function, this is one of the most basic basics for user experience!
And believe me - no matter how pretty your website is, people are going to get frustrated and bounce if they can’t find something quickly - and I do mean in seconds. And they won’t come back for more.

So search bar basics, here we go!!!!

#1 Make sure it’s clearly visible; big enough and well-designed so it stands out clearly.

#2 Place the search bar at the top of the page (where someone would intuitively look for it!)

#3 Enable predictive text so visitors can quickly find the products they are searching for.

#4 Make sure your search bar is visible on every page!

#5 Check and don't forget to TEST on mobile, too, and make sure it’s big enough to easily click!

And bonus - search bar data can tell more about your customers! The top-performing search results will give a better idea of what people like, and you can use this information to optimize your website even further.

For example, if people are always searching for jeans, maybe have a link to that collection on the homepage (above the fold, of course!)

Remember!! Whether in person or online, if a person enjoys their shopping experience with you, they are more likely to convert - and come back for more.

Setting up a search bar for your Shopify store is a simple. Here are the steps you should follow:

1. Log in to your Shopify account and go to the "Online Store" section.
2. Click on "Themes" and select the theme you want to edit.
3. Click on "Customize" to open the theme editor.
4. From the editor, click on "Header" or "Navigation" to find the section where you want to add the search bar.
5. Click on the "Add section" button and select "Search" from the list of options.
6. Customize the search bar settings to your liking, including the size, color, and placement.
7. Save the changes and preview your store to ensure that the search bar is working properly.

That's it! With these simple steps, you can add a search bar to your Shopify store, making it easier for customers to find what they're looking for and improving their shopping experience.

So! Let's get to work on those search bars!
